Washington D.C., February 14, 2024 – The National Association of Counties (NACO), the leading voice for county leaders across the nation, hosted its annual conference from February 8th to 12th in Washington D.C. The high-energy event brought together over 700 county officials, industry leaders, and policy experts to discuss pressing issues affecting communities nationwide.

President Biden addressed the final day audience, emphasizing his administration’s focus on “kitchen table issues” like transportation, energy, healthcare, and housing affordability. He highlighted key accomplishments like the American Rescue Plan, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and CHIPS Act, emphasizing their direct impact on local communities. President Biden, starting his career as a local county councilman, praised the dedication of county officials who “implement the ideas that make a difference in people’s lives.”

Among the attendees was Kelly Robinson, CEO of Archie Mae, a housing finance advocacy company. Robinson, a 30-year financial veteran and former Douglas County, Georgia commissioner, commended the federal focus on housing affordability. He stressed the need for “fundamental structural change” and introduced Archie Mae’s innovative solution: “The Bridge,” a fintech product that partners with lenders to reduce monthly mortgage payments by 25% in exchange for a share of future appreciation. “Having served at the local level for four terms and successfully implementing housing and financial literacy initiatives,” Robinson stated, “I understand the challenges communities face. The Bridge offers a sustainable solution, increasing disposable income and easing the housing cost burden.”

Archie Mae plans to launch The Bridge in 10 states this spring, aiming to address the national housing affordability crisis. The NACO conference served as a crucial platform for showcasing this impactful solution and fostering collaboration between local leaders, industry innovators, and policymakers.
